Consider what nourishes you, and supports your being here.

Cancer – the womb, the crucible for life emerging
. On 21st June, the Sun shifted from Gemini into Cancer without moving any further on its direction North, the Solstice. It stays at that latitude for the first few degrees of Cancer, and from Midsummer onwards each day it will be a little further South, shortening the Northern Hemisphere daytimes, and lengthening daytimes in the Southern Hemisphere. The circle we might draw round the Earth at this latitude is called the Tropic of Cancer.
. Imagine our soul passing through Aries, and finding its drive to live a human life; through Taurus, it gathers the stuff for a body to survive this life in Earth; and through Gemini, to explores, names and shares all it finds, developing skill in movement and communication; then into Cancer, finding itself in an emotional soup, entering life through a chrysalis, thereby developing emotional sensitivity for connecting, empathising and nestling with others in a nurturing human family.
Life and death – a swing door
. Since Jupiter entered Cancer on 9 June, emotional nurturing is being magnified as an issue until the end June 2026, when Jupiter leaves for Leo. From 21 June, the Sun focused our hearts emotionally, and on 25 June the Moon joins in – Jupiter, Sun and Moon together are suggesting that the next month (even the next 6 months until the Capricorn Solstice) we will be opening up all issues concerning birth, nurturing, the oceans, our emotional early life, our parents and children, in fact all family concerns – and that means also the entire human family, and even more, Gaia’s family of all on this Earth – are due for a re-vision. Particularly this may bring food and farmers to the front of our concerns, with new ways of sharing the food produced with those who need it, and supporting ways of producing food that leave it more nutritious. Also the issue of nurturing all life, whether in the womb or near the death-bed. We will need all the understanding and compassion we can muster for everyone’s views through this month and beyond, for these issues have roots in our deepest unconscious fears.
Be prepared for change – but not afraid of it
. On a personal level, look to the House in your chart where this is occurring, the first degrees of Cancer. This will be the area of your life that you are finding yourself checking over and bringing up-to-date, letting go of what may not have been working for some time, and finding that there are already new people and ideas knocking on your door.
Intense, but do’able with love
. One of the things which suggests this month to be particularly intense is that all the planets are in one huge configuration, connecting with each other in major aspect angles, a huge complicated crystalline pattern. I enlarge on the planetary connections in the video – writing about them would take more space than I like to. But I will just say here that, when an individual’s birth-chart has this kind of connectedness, it indicates that when any part of their system that gets triggered, triggers the rest as well – total reaction of the whole personality!
In this chart, only Venus is on her own in Taurus, unconnected to the pattern. The beauty of this is that the love of Earth, Nature, Gaia, over-arches all the rest of our concerns, from the background, and remains the area where we can re-group in harmony with others because we all share the same essential human values. A good month then for connecting with others around food, good company, gatherings that focus on feeling good about ourselves, the arts, music, dance, ceremony. Whatever our battles, disagreements, need for space, our basic human values link us, reminding us we are one huge family, with each other, and with all that inhabit the Earth.
Less intense – but look to your relationships
. Each of us probably, though, will be focused on our own set of intensities. So look to the Houses where you have early Cancer for the New Moon with Jupiter; and also early Gemini for Venus connecting with Uranus around the Full Moon. The Full Moon chart has the planets somewhat broken apart from the New Moon intensity. The background pressure we all feel may be exacerbated, while we focus on our personal relationships, and also possible having a good time while looking the other way (Mercury in Leo unaspected).
. From the first degree of Gemini, that Venus leads Uranus into, we are likely to find ourselves involved in lots of talking, communication, movement – and also the absence of those things, possibly vacillating between sudden connections and separating again.. Break-ups and get-togethers, vacillating in relationship, but also very likely letting go of what has become heavy and fixed, as both planets are leaving Taurus, in favour of quick changes and freedom, specifically freedom of thought and speech. Don’t throw away love of the sensuous, the earthiness of Taurus, along with the stubborn fixity – you may regret that loss. Words are no substitute for touch.
Clearing the decks ?
. This Full Moon in Capricorn (Saturn rules) we will hopefully equip ourselves better to deal with what needs fixing (trine Mars in Virgo on South Node). During July, there will be a fine impetus to complete whatever needs to be sorted from our past, and you may find the opportunities appear. (Although from the Leo New Moon 24 July, there may be some contention about exactly how complete we are ever likely to get! But we’ll look at that next month.)
. Take care of yourself first – whatever you do after that will be influenced by your rested state of mind and emotion as well as body. Consider what nourishes you, and supports your being here in this life. I suggest you include in each day something that makes you happy – and as soon as you feel your heart, breathe into it and let it glow. Give your heart your love and attention, and know that when you are filled with light, you light up your world without trying.

Contemplation for this New Moon in Cancer
Dear people,
In your letting go
take care of that which belongs to you.
There is no need to try and work out what needs to go,
simply open your grasping fearful hand
and hold your life lightly on your palm.
What is no longer yours will fly away,
what is yours will still be there
after the wind and storm have had their day.
It is not your task to decide your life path,
it was decided with your soul before your body grew.
Be present, and your next step will become clear
when it is ready for you to take it.
And while you are ‘waiting’ for that moment
enjoy yourself, and give of your heart’s love
without stint, to those who need it.
With love.
