Deal with what comes to hand, and allow your life path to reveal itself.

Sagittarius – the Adventurer
. We adventure out into the world when we want to ‘expand our horizons’. And Sagittarius expresses the pull to wider views, greater understanding, more inclusive attitudes. We see more from higher up, so climbing the mountains, following new paths, new discoveries, experimenting with new ways, new routes, explorations. There is a sense of life in the search and discovery, and there’s a need for freedom to follow whatever path calls. A Sagittarian personality may sometimes be confused by the choice of which path to follow first, and perhaps for simplicity jumps down the first one to appear. Because it’s about living the question, when something is learned, it is not so much taught to others as a subject; it is shared with others as experience. It is only a fearful Sagittarian, stuck in a defensive or prideful attitude, that sees others as fools for not knowing.
. This New Moon is at right-angles (square) to Saturn in Pisces, which is making boundaries difficult to form and hold. This can feel like trying to find ones way through a swamp. For Sagittarius, this can result in confusion among too many options, and what looked like a clear path from a distance becomes lost among the choices . . .
Distractions are part of the path
. The next week or so continues the process we’ve been involved in for the last month at least (Mercury through Sagittarius) – we’ve been navigating the multiple pulls that seem to require immediate action, to the point where we almost forget what our original aim was! Hopefully, we’ve been learning what triggers our reactions, helping us to uncover and heal old memories. They’ve arrived to be dealt with at last, to be cleared from the shelf, giving us more space to move our plans forward in the way that will fit the flow of life – as it is now.
But also, whatever seems a distraction, that’s stopping you following through whatever you were doing when it arrived, is actually what you need to focus on next. Our plans often need adapting to circumstances we would rather ignore. Mercury has been retrograde since 25 November, and this tends to open our awareness to those things that have been passing by in the wings, that we were too focused to notice – a bit like suddenly noticing what your right brain has been gathering while your consciousness was limited to left brain focus. Once we are aware of the bigger picture within which we are planning our moves, we can course-correct by doing what rises to be done moment by moment. Distractions may be the very things to do first, perhaps giving us the information or experience we need to bring our main aim into harmony with the coming times.
Problems don’t get in the way, they lead the way
. Jupiter being retrograde, as well as Mercury, puts plans on hold from opening out anyway, while we deal with these apparent side-issues. That Jupiter is opposite Mercury in this New Moon chart emphasises the amount of ‘distractions’, so you may find yourself surrounded by a hundred and one ideas, or things you meant to do, or say to someone, over the last months/years, all shouting for attention NOW! Stop! Breathe. Be with yourself for a moment. The only pressure is that which we put on ourselves expecting that we can do all this at once. Make sure you don’t rush what you do – every move needs full attention in order not to misfire (Jupiter square Saturn). And give yourself a pat on the back for each achieved thing!
Confusion is fertile territory
. By the Full Moon, even as Mercury begins to move forward again, the Earth will be overtaking Mars, so Mars will begin to apparently travel backwards. If we’ve been working too hard or even playing too hard, we may run out of energy altogether. You may need to look deeper inside to find a powerful enough motivation to get yourself going. Perhaps the ideal response to this whole month is a kind of surrender to the season, no longer expecting great things of ourselves or the world just yet, but rather observing, and being with, what happens. The motivation that rises may be to do with people we don’t often see, even people we don’t know personally, reaching out to connect and maybe help, (Venus in Aquarius trine Jupiter, and sextile Mercury in Sagittarius).
. With the Full Moon being in Gemini, the pleasure of variety, we may find we have more options than we can fulfil. Choose what you really want to do, because your sense of personal fulfilment will bring more spaciousness into whatever happens around you (Sun and Moon both supporting Chiron in Aries). The key is to lovingly allow arrangements to change in ways that support everyone enjoying themselves. Let there be no rancour or disappointment, either family- or work-based – these wounds are self-inflicted when we allow our little egos to be in control, assuming our desires to be right. So let us respect the freedom of others, as we practise the art of choosing that which life is offering us personally (Sun quincunx Uranus).
Relax into the dance, allowing your soul to lead
. Remember that ‘mistakes’ are just opportunities to learn a bit we need to know (Full Moon squares Neptune). This is a time when taking space for prayer, meditation, and asking for Inner Guidance, will probably lead us more truly than trying to work out what’s best. Surrender to spirit’s movement in its material expression, being prepared for things to turn out quite differently from what was imagined. It’s helpful to assume/trust that life does what it needs to do, and respond with interest and loving attention. Life is amazing, and there is beauty to be found everywhere.
