Leo total eclipse – 12 August 2026

Love opens all doors – receive love, Be Love.

(don’t worry about the astro-jargon – go for the gist)

‘Shatter your ideals on the rock of Truth!’

.       At this total eclipse of the Sun in Leo, we can say that the wave of energy that’s been building on the horizon, has arrived and drives over us. We are tumbled in uncertainty with anxiety or downright fear. These are the emotions of a material being fearing death in the fire of transformation. It is not death we are looking at, though, it’s actually letting go of our treasured beliefs, the principles we’ve been hanging our opinions on – ‘Shatter your Ideals on the Rock of Truth!’

.       This wave flows over all the earth, every nation, group, and individual. How small we are as one of many million beings on Earth – how unimportant our individual opinions and judgements! (Sun and Moon are not connecting closely to any other planets in the chart). So although it can feel momentous internally, we still have to feed and clothe ourselves as best we can, probably much in the way we have been doing before. How does momentous change, on the finer planes of life, show up in the everyday. For myself, it has to do with how much I listen to the inner voice, which seems to know how to be and what to do moment by moment as life proceeds. I hear it, but tend to go ‘my own way’ anyway – and later, if I remember what I heard, I wonder why I didn’t obey the voice. ‘My own way’ is habitual, egoic, and small, and tends to give me a hard time. Whereas the inner directive was simple, clear, and freeing.

Authentic includes being responsible for all you express

.       The closest connection this total eclipse makes is to Saturn, and that is fading (Saturn retrograding through Aries, a separating trine to Sun/Moon). This connection has been in force for the last week or so offering a smooth understanding of what would be the best path to take through the woods, preparing us for changes in the world outside, the greater wave. ‘Be true to yourself, yet appropriate in your group’; ‘be cautious, yet act speedily when called’; ‘be warm and positive, yet in command of your inner space’. Because in times of general upheaval, we need to be responsible for our own state, so that we can be available to act appropriately in our community when our particular skills can be helpful. Sometimes we are called to simply be there – every conduit of Light and Love is valuable.

.       And that’s the point! As individual grains of sand, we disappear – but we are each connected to Source and, as that, we need to be able to see past our identities to allow the Source energy to flow naturally. Our power can be used to block the Light! But listening to the inner guidance and obeying its directives, we transform into conduits for Truth and Light. I know you know all this, but in tough times it’s so easy to fall into our little view. I tend to hear the inner directives, but I don’t really listen, even when I’ve asked for help – I’m listening to my emotional state and what I think. When I really listen to inner guidance, I follow the advice because it’s clearly the best way for me to go.

The rise of ‘we – the people’ ?

,       A total solar eclipse shows the shadow of the Moon carving a path without sunlight across the Earth. According to NASA: ‘A total solar eclipse will be visible in Greenland, Iceland, Spain, Russia, and a small area of Portugal, while a partial eclipse will be visible in Europe, Africa, North America, the Atlantic Ocean, Arctic Ocean, and Pacific Ocean.’

.       At the last Full Moon on 29 July, the Moon was together with Pluto facing Sun and Jupiter, suggesting a rise in the power felt by ‘the people’ in the face of enormous events. This eclipse suggests that power focuses into a people’s expression, calling for attention, calling for action on behalf of the masses that we are, wanting a say in what happens in the world, particularly national borders, food distribution, farmers, soil, and so on – all things that affect our physical life. (Pluto opposite Mercury, both square Chiron in Taurus). Such expression needs to be steady, intelligent, and emotionally under control, to be effective.

.       In both the last Full Moon chart, and this total eclipse chart, there would seem to be a dichotomy between what is wanted and what is done, which has been with us for maybe thousands of years, but is now visible, no longer assumed as just the way things have to be, and being noisily addressed (Venus square Mars, fading now but will return early October as Venus retrogrades). As individuals, we need to step back from this emotionally divisive situation, both in world affairs and in our own lives. Don’t be manipulated by your emotions like a stringed puppet. When you feel an emotional response to a piece of news, first step back into your core and then notice what your response was. It may give a clue as what you may have buried inside, as well as indicating the motives of the one telling the story! It’s worth remembering that, once we’ve been hooked emotionally, the perpetrator can drain our energy for as long as they like, and we finally become tired and even deeply depressed.

The Full Moon – working at letting life be

.       The Nodes of the Moon have shifted) from Virgo-to-Pisces to Leo-to-Aquarius (they change sign every 18/19 months). We definitely need to be awake to our own emotions now in order to see past them, so that we can relate to our communities without rabble-rousing, or being roused. Discussion, looking at what is being said from other viewpoints than your own, helping where you can – all this will be crucial during the next year or so. The emphasis from the Full Moon on 28 August is more on quieting down, listening empathically and intuitively, and communicating what is appropriate in a way that works (Moon in Pisces opposite Sun/Mercury in Virgo).

.       There may be a need for more whistle-blowers, more truth revealing, and motives that may have been hidden need to come into the open and be seen (Sun/Moon square Uranus, and Jupiter trine Saturn). A beautiful visual for us all over these weeks will be Venus as the Evening Star, before she slows in preparation for retrograding back to the Sun on 2 October. Now she shines on us without limitation of other aspects from her own sign in Libra. This time is for Love, pure and free of error, to soothe and bless us all. Open your heart and breathe Love in – you are loved, You are Love.
