Capricorn New Moon – 18 January 2026

Be where you are – nothing else really exists –
and you will be raising your world in consciousness.

(don’t worry about the astro-jargon – go for the gist)

Capricorn in creation

.       Life is continuous creation, a continuous process welling up out of all potential into manifesting materially. I like to think of the Zodiac as a description of that process, impossibly breaking it down into 12 stages. The Capricorn stage of that process would be about manifesting in the material world. To do this effectively, it is necessary to know what works in this material dimension, having a sense of which way the energy needs to go, what is needed for optimum functioning, how to get things working well.

.       To be fully part of the creative process, we need to be consciously here in the moment. So the most important thing in your life is what you’re doing at this moment, not for what it is, but because you’re doing it now! I was washing up when the idea came to me, and now I’m writing the New Moon letter – each activity needs the attention and respect of our conscious focus, as in, ‘I am here doing this.’ This raises the vibration of all we do, a satisfying purpose for living day by day. Nothing that we do is unworthy of this focus. In fact it’s our attitude to things that either lifts them, or brings their vibration down. When we are thinking of something else, the delightful relationship between ourselves and life itself is missing. Nothing in our lives is exempt from responding to our thoughts and feelings – we shape our surroundings constantly. Using this natural power consciously, is part of being a shaman – the magical side of Capricorn.

The end of Capricorn joins magical Aquarius

.       This New Moon is at the end of Capricorn, so it’s focusing us on all those areas of practical life which have been built up over a long period of time into their most complete expression. And as with all flowering, the completion contains its own collapse as the flower ‘goes over’ and the petals fall. All they can give the world has been given, and it’s time to relinquish their claim on supremacy.

.       Not only is the Sun/Moon at the end of Capricorn, they are followed closely by Mercury and Mars (communication and action). So we might infer that any flowering edifice is feeling its collapse looming. The way we, as individuals, can use this idea is in our personal microcosm, to see where we have built on the past, created an apparently stable lifestyle, a habit pattern for efficiency, the business of our working life, or our perceived role within family or group. We will need to recognise how passing time changes the backdrop, aging changes relationship dynamics, and we need to take another look at the whole scene with fresh eyes. Describe things as they are now, rather than as they were ten or twenty years ago, or longer. It may help get a new view of a situations imagining looking at it with the kindly eyes of someone new to it, and describe what they would see. It’s often old attitudes we most need to change, or letting go of any vested interest that may have developed in things staying the same. The result is more relaxed, and a sense of being the living self instead of trying to fulfil a role that’s out-of-date (Sun/Moon, Mercury and Mars all trine Uranus).

.       Once we can stand clearly as we are individually, we are in a better position to see what’s going on around us. And at that point we are ready to join with others who may have similar feelings about how the world is shaping. Joining together, we can have a stronger effect materially, leaning against old structures, assisting the collapse, and the following new growth in cleared spaces. (Venus has already moved into Aquarius to join Pluto).

Checking back

.        Neptune leaves Pisces on the 30 January, and Saturn on 14 February. Then a sense of Aries new life and activity gets properly underway, so we have only a few days to check what, if anything, is tying us to our past. Then it’s the future that will claim our energy, where we are going, what we want to do, or have to do, next. It won’t all be easy, and sometimes we may not want to do what turns out to be next. But this is where making each thing we do the most important thing as we do it will help the eventual results to be entirely beneficial for us – that is, we will be moving with what is required by life in the most uplifting way we can, and that attracts the best outcomes.

.        By the Full Moon on 1 February, not only will the Capricorn focus have shifted to Aquarius, but Neptune’s sensitive energy will have taken on the Aries flavour that it expressed April to October last year. Can you remember what was inspiring you through those months of 2025, whatever felt like a really good trajectory? We’ve had time since then to clear the decks a bit more, making space to develop these ideas. Although, rather than resurrecting an old plan you kept procrastinating around, or fulfilling someone else’s plan for you, you may choose another personal direction more relevant who you are becoming (14 February, Saturn moves into Aries again for the next two years – was in Aries June to August 2025).

Looking ahead

.       As the energy of life ramps up, so we have to adapt or get exhausted. The rest of this period until 14 February, we may re-group, examine plans, get ready. But from then onwards, we may find ourselves thrown on our own resources, and the next New Moon on 17 February finds us possibly letting go of all previous plans, maybe even startling everyone with an innovative new venture (planets moving through Aquarius will be squaring Uranus). So whatever you find yourself aiming for throughout February, be prepared to keep inwardly moving – life may have other plans for us all. Surprising opportunities may arise just when we’ve given up – what is required is an awake open focus, and a willingness to adapt.

.       All this may not be relevant to you yourself, but may show up in the lives of people you know. It that’s your case, be like a tree in their landscape, stable and available for support, but focused on your own life. In extremity, we all need reminding that each one of us has angels, light beings, off-planet guidance at hand when called upon.

. . . and onward

.       In the shift of Capricorn to Aquarius, we remember that the material world is really the appearance of the slowing vibration of life energy. That vibration at different speeds manifests all levels of perception into clearest light where we may experience joy and love without fear or judgement. Inwardly, we will experience all these levels as we unfold the natural human capacity for full consciousness. Maybe this is the root of Capricorn’s sense of responsibility . . . ?

Contemplation for this New Moon in Capricorn

What will the future bring?
Only what is there that you cannot see,
that hovers in the back of your minds
and vanishes when you turn to look!

The future no more lives than the past, let it go!
Be where you are, BE.
See and hear what is around you
and welcome it all with open heart.
Nothing else is required of you.
So relax and smile at life,
enjoy what you experience – it’s all a gift.
And you will find heaven
is always there for you.

With love.
