Cancer – emotional ups and downs, but steady support and caring.
. This New Moon in Cancer is with Mercury still retrograding, it’s about re-setting our behaviour around caring, nurturing what we value and wish to support, or allowing our empathy to draw us into nurturing what someone else values and wishes to support. We can be played like puppets with our emotions, through reacting to the stories we are told. Emotion rises and falls like the waves on the sea and should not be used to make our choices – but our bodies can show what is right for us. For the first week, we are still looking back to what was, but this time perhaps recognising how our choices have often been overrun by agendas that don’t serve us – other people’s, and also our own unconscious or mistaken agendas (Mercury retrograde/Sun/Moon all square Saturn in Aries).
. The basket, or cradle, of connecting outer planets has been falling into place for some time now, reflecting our growing awareness of the need for transformation, not just in the world ‘out there’ but also in our personal lives. Transformation of course always requires that what has been in place must go, to give space for something that is not yet known to emerge. Each planet describes an aspect of our own self, so we could look at Jupiter in Leo as our desire for expansion beyond the day to day – imagining and planning holidays, celebrations, and joyful community, or setting out your next project. Jupiter in the chart is pointing at (trine) Neptune in Aries as an ally, the boundless possibilities beckoning like an angel of honesty and courage – what do I want, or deserve – surely it’s time for a break! The truth is likely to come out in bursts, true Uranus-style (sextile), as we dare to voice our desire for the freedom to do things our own way. But to admit to all this, we have to oppose the hidden power that seems to control what happens, our habit patterns and our fears – Pluto!
The truth will out
. During July, our true needs and desires will be forced to rise from our depths, just blurted out. One way or another they need to be addressed, however uncomfortable that may be, so we need to resist distraction, and understand what is actually making them an issue. The changes must be radical to work for our future – a changed attitude, an openness where there had been judgement – in our personal thinking and also our communities, and countries. And they must be accepted, and implemented, before the transformation will show. It takes courage to accept an unknown destination, and our Leo Jupiter encourages an open heart to follow through.
. The Sun rules Leo, and is in Cancer this month, so it’s the joy in caring for each other, and ourselves, that needs to guide us. This is where what we really feel and try to express comes up against situations in the world beyond our control, and we will need to recognise and master our own reactivity about that (Mercury/Sun/Moon in Cancer squaring Saturn). There is still so much of humanity just wishing global change was not real, and so ignore or reject the trajectory of what is happening; and others who want change but in ways that include aggression to non-supporters. Rather than attacking them to ‘wake them up’, or ‘correct their ideas’, we need to remember that we all have the same basic desires for ourselves and our families. We are all doing the best we can as human beings, and they too are living the best they can in their circumstances.
Loving care is a natural human characteristic
. What is required is that we each follow through in our own lives, in our own way. We need to remember what really matters, what we truly value in life; to remember what served us most in life, what attitudes really helped us all get along (Venus in Virgo next to the South Node). Our memories tell us how natural it is to help each other, how loving care for those in need is an essential part of community. This is how we survive, not just materially but as warm emotional beings. We may find ourselves becoming impatient with all the talk of what needs to be done, new ideas, more money spent on technological advances – let’s not forget about each other, and love, and how we’re managing through all this (Venus square Uranus).
. Which brings us to the Full Moon chart for 29 July, where Jupiter is joined by the Sun, and opposes not just Pluto, but the Full Moon as well! On a general level, the Moon represents ‘the people’, so in Aquarius it looks like a recognition of the power of gathered groups. This would be honouring intrinsic human equality, value, and needs, and expressed calmly, has great potency. There is no knowing the outcome, but being clear about where you stand and what feels right to you would be the best we can do. There could be a call to withstand the powerful few who decide so much in our lives on this planet, so it depends how much power we feel in ourselves, and how much the rest of humanity pulls together. Bearing in mind that the Sun will be in the sign it rules, working together with Jupiter/Neptune/Uranus – it rather depends who has the floor! As long as it’s not completely dark (which I don’t believe it will be) whatever happens is most likely to be for our benefit, though to some it may not seem so at the time, depending on the viewpoint.
Our part in going through this energy
. Good thoughts to hold in our hearts at this time:
We are not separate from each other, nor separate from the Source.
Love is the basic life force.
We can trust in all the forces of spirit being available to our open hearts.
We are not alone as human beings, there are many layers of being and all are connected through Love.
. Connecting it all together requires being in your body, loving yourself with all your quirky human characteristics, accepting your errors and moving on, finding out what’s true with an open mind, while receiving the Love that flows through and around us continually. Being a conduit for this Love brings spiritual power and the effectiveness of Light into this material level. Let each encounter be an opportunity to share the love that rises in your heart, and you too are blessed.
