Aries - the field of birth
The birth, that all the labour of our life is about, is
the upwelling of the inner body that experiences our spiritual
wholeness and connection with all life. The heart fills with
promise, the potential moves within us, and bursts out of
the womb-waters of Pisces - a sense of vastness and power
that cannot be contained within the physical human body, but
must reach out and out to fill the universe with Being.
This inner being awakes in Aries, and the awareness ripples
from the heart-spring with joy whose intensity is almost painful,
and love that is the root of immeasurable compassion. Like
the birth of a lamb in the morning, or a blackbird singing
full-throated in the first light of day; you breathe out of
sleep and open your eyes, and consciousness lives again in
human form.
Labour precedes birth
In the last few days, you may have had some emotionally
painful realisations, or conversations, which revealed only
too clearly those aspects of your character that really need
adjusting; to get to the Sun in Aries, the Moon always spends
the previous few days travelling through Pisces, and this
year many of us would have found particularly painful mind-sets
rising out of the past: a tendency to be overwhelmed by the
suffering of the world, or our own anxieties about family
or situations where we feel responsible - an aspect of ‘the
martyr’ (on 28 March Moon passed Mercury and Chiron
together in Pisces).
On 30 March, at this New Moon in Aries, we can make conscious
choices for the rest of this year. This is not necessarily
going to be an easy birth, challenges are clear from the beginning
(Sun/Moon conjunct Uranus square Pluto). But there is a promise
of great growth in the courage to be exactly what you find
yourself to be (Sun/Moon in Aries square Jupiter). Aries has
the courage to stand alone if necessary - not that it wants
to, but compromise is not possible if ones truth is to be
discovered.

Compassionate attention empowers
There is a great need for those who think positively to
hold the suffering of humanity as part of the bigger picture
of human life - our responsibility is to live our lives the
best we can and hold the rest in the light of wholeness. We
are not meant to rush to solve other people’s problems,
nor even to help them unless we feel specifically called.
This is not selfish - because the light we produce through
acceptance of the truth ripples out and affects all life.
Often what is needed in difficult situations is a compassionate
listening ear, and an empowering hand on the shoulder, rather
than someone thinking they know what another person needs
(Saturn square Venus). Helping someone to take responsibility
for themselves can be the most empowering form of healing.
Bright awareness with love heals
By the Full Moon on 15 April, we will need to be aware of
any tendency to impatience, because we could miss opportunities
by rushing past them, only to trip up a bit further along
the road (Mercury will be conjunct Uranus). So mindfulness
and flexibility are key qualities we could be birthing, for
they allow awareness of the supreme sensitivity and compassion
needed for healing deep issues (Venus and Chiron in Pisces
trine Saturn in Scorpio).
Whatever changes you decide to make in attitudes to the circumstances
of your life, or in response patterns in your relationships,
use this time to get them going and they will develop well
in the next few months.
