Virgo - staving off illness or allowing health
There are two ways to look at, and from, the qualities of
Virgo: the separate personality’s way, or the soul’s
way. This is true for everything, of course, but Virgo points
out the difference with clarity and sometimes considerable
pain. It’s about looking at life with a view to finding
the holes, or gaps, in the fabric, and what one feels about
them.
The personality sees gaps as holes one might fall through
into deep darkness never to return to health. The soul sees
gaps as windows into the greater awareness of the love that
heals. The personality experiences Virgo territory as needing
a structure of properly organised narrow bridges over chaos,
where a false step could lose all. The soul experiences the
heart of Virgo as discerning the fine connections between
daily life and the mighty organisation of spirit, where acceptance
and carefulness create health and well being.
Virgo is a passed-master at perceiving that bit of a wholeness
that needs alteration in order for the whole thing to be ‘perfect’
- except that, on a soul level, it’s perfect already.
On a soul level, Virgo accepts what is, including the compost
value of what we have weeded out. Only by accepting it all,
can we see how to move appropriately moment by moment, which
helps us to live and breathe in the presence of spirit.
When you know what you want, go for it - carefully
With the New Moon at the beginning of Virgo, we have the
opportunity all month to tune into the spirit behind the bits
of our lives that we may be struggling with (Sun/Moon opposite
Neptune in Pisces). There are so many strands to what is going
on for each of us (Mercury in Virgo since 15 August) we are
likely to be feeling very confused if we try to sort them
all out now. The best process is to accept that there is generally
too much to do all at once, and do that which stands out now.
At this time we may feel somewhat driven to sort out old
wounded places (Mercury opposite Chiron, sextile Mars/Saturn).
However, the force driving us is old, and the places in our
face are new. So what is required is a pause before action,
a deliberation, and then a steady forward movement with one
foot hovering over the break in case our direction or manner
turn out to be inappropriate (Mars on Saturn in Scorpio).
We need to allow mistakes to show up, to be able to admit
when we got it wrong, to apologise if we’ve triggered
someone’s pain - without feeling personally bad about
it. If you inadvertently step over a boundary, at least you
have discovered that it’s there! Stepping back respectfully
is the appropriate action.

Freedom to be ourselves
This is a great month for focussing on our own ‘stuff’,
rather than our relationship difficulties (Venus, ruling North
Node, trines Uranus both in fire signs), a time when serving
ourselves helps others by giving them freedom to be who they
are too. Let your friends know you love them, and remember
to take time off from your labours to enjoy their company
(Venus in Leo).
This month’s energy is great for clearing out what
is no longer alive for us, for adjusting health programs -
food, exercise, sleep patterns - and rearranging our homes
to reflect what we want to be focussing on, rather than trying
to finish off things which are no longer relevant. To find
out what is to be done, and what is to be left undone, we
need to ask inwardly - ‘what promotes growth? what gives
me joy? what is appropriate for who I am now?’ and any
question you find within yourself that leads to your souls
path (Mercury asks Neptune).
Distractions can mask the very thing we want to do
most
Sometimes the inner answers come so quickly, we hardly trust
them, but those are often the ones we’ve been hiding
from. When there is something the inner wants to do and we
don’t do it, there builds up inside a frustration and
resentment which is hard to explain. Rather than blaming the
outside, we need to own up to our own fearfulness - sometimes
it’s disguised as apathy, or a plethora of distractions,
sometimes a ‘need’ to keep helping others, or
a sense of unworthiness or not being up to it (Sun/Moon and
Mercury in Virgo).
What we are looking for is that part of the pattern of our
unfolding life that lies behind the stuff of the moment. We
need to see through the many bits and strands to the part
of our purpose that is being served. And it’s not the
thinking mind that can do this. But the heart will resonate
with a sense of rightness as the levels become aligned (Sun
opposite Neptune). When we know what we resonate with, that’s
the time to go for it this month - with determination (Mars
in Scorpio) and care (Saturn).
. . . everything changes . . .
The Full Moon on 9 September continues this effortful flavour
for the rest of the month, with the focus perhaps more on
healing - the healing that springs naturally from taking responsibility
for our state of mind, emotion and body, and taking gentle
care of ourselves (Moon on Chiron, trine Saturn). There is
a caution against trying to get our own way by manipulating;
rather, be kindly, warmly honest, and be prepared to change
your mind (Mercury in Libra sextile Jupiter and square Pluto)!
By 13 September, the energy will be lifting into a more adventurous
mode (Mars into Sagittarius), new fields . . ..
Don’t press this month with expectations, just keep
going, and by late September you are likely to find that you
have accomplished more, and differently, than you had thought.
