Libra - breathe out, relax, and open your mind

This New Moon chart looks quite peaceful compared to many we’ve seen in the last few months. There is a sense of optimism that is more prepared to allow harmony to pervade our relating (Jupiter in Leo). Libra shows up in all our lives as the recognition that there are others ‘out there’ to relate to, rather than being fixated within our own bubble of thoughts and reactions. When we breathe out, letting go of tension, we find that the boundaries of our self-awareness relax and allow the outside to become more visible. In Libra, there is still the sense that what we see is separate from who we feel ourselves to be, but it is accessible and interesting, and we wish to reach out to discover what’s there and how we can connect with that.

This kind of gentle, tentative exploration requires a sense of safety, so that any sign of discord is liable to send it back in. The thoughts can easily take over (Libra is an air sign) and take one back inside ones bubble of self. So we speak of Libra being about harmony, balance and justice, where everyone is respected and there is no likelihood of shock, like shouting or any violence.

In order to establish such a harmonious space, Libra’s reaction to anything that feels out of balance is to balance it up. So we find the apparent contradicting of anything said - always putting the other side of an ‘argument’, even though that may not be Libra’s actual opinion.

The beauty of this way is that everyone is given a fair hearing, and nothing is done without considerable reflection. Action may take some time to develop, but Libra’s movements will be deliberate, and gracefully in harmony with the surroundings. There is a gentleness and consideration in Libra’s contact. Ah, to have more Libra in all our relating . . .

Difficulties and mistakes lead us along the right path

This month, Libran relating will be more courageous in trying new ways (Sun/Moon sextile Mars in Sagittarius), but our reactions to any response are likely to be like a sea anemone suddenly tucking its fronds back inside - super-sensitive to hurt, not just our own hurt, but feeling for the results in others of our own inadvertent clumsiness (Mars squares Neptune in Pisces). However, keep going with the adventure of relating because, through facing the pains, this is the month of healing with lightness of touch and humour (Mars trine Jupiter who quincunxes Chiron).

This month there is space for personal inner growth, discovering that our pains belong to us, and are not being inflicted by the other (Jupiter trines Uranus). When seeing this, we must be careful to notice when we are giving ourselves too hard a time (Venus in Virgo) because this is likely to have us giving up on the exploration (negative outlook of Virgo could take Mars energy through the sextile). So remember the injunction to breathe out and relax - a kind of inner re-grouping before reaching out again. This work of communication in relationship is not just for our personal results, but for the other also, and that means the entire human race: adjustments to the human hologram (Venus in Virgo in service to the whole).

You are your best gift to the world

The early part of this month may gently reveal the deeper areas of life that need to be communicated (Mercury into Scorpio on 27 September), and from early October for the rest of this month, our research takes us into the past to correct, smooth out, re-establish what’s important, so that we can then move forward appropriately with our planned activities and developing relationships (Mercury retrograde until 25 October). All this time, there is the call to grow in self expression and confidence, to truly be ourselves so that we discover our uniqueness, and learn to hold it even in relationship with others (Venus into Libra 29 September).

8 October Full Moon opens the door to beautiful communal activity

Only by being that unique self can we put our naturalness in service to the community; this is our gift in working with others (Uranus on Aries South Node opposite Libra North Node). This emphasis becomes really important during the second half of the month (8 October Full Moon chart has Moon on Uranus and Sun with Venus on North Node). The Full Moon chart is worth looking at on my page on ‘youtube’ just for the beautiful blue and green kite-shape of aspects (click on the green button on the left of the main index page, the Full Moon chart shows after 4 or 5 minutes of the New Moon). It suggests a galvanising of positive activity in communities everywhere, brimming with love and a desire to find a peaceful solution.

So let yourself enjoy self, friends and family, within your community this October!

Contemplation for this New Moon in Libra

There is beauty everywhere
if you have the intent to find it.
The search for that delicacy and sweetness
is the best adventure you may choose.
Turn over the stones, look into the trees,
examine the structures of old
in wood and stone;
the colour and shape, angle and curve,
of houses and faces and food.

Above all
appreciate what you find
for itself,
rather than restricting it with
liking, disliking, or scorn.
Each has its purpose and experience,
each is unique.
To fully understand the smallest part,
is to master the universe,
so be humble in the face of the unknown
and enjoy relating to your world.
