The Venus transit across the face of the Sun is unusual. It happens twice every 130 years, and those two events are always eight years apart. The first of the present pair will be on June 8th 2004 and the second will be on June 6th 2012. 2012 is also the year that Neptune moves into Pisces, its own Sign, emphasising the spiritual oneness of all things.

June 8th 2004: Venus has to be retrograde to cross the Sun from the Earth's point of view. The Sun and Venus will be in Gemini both times, 2004 and 2012, so the flavour is about communication and ideas. This 2004 event sees Sun and Venus trine to (120 degrees from) Neptune, a smooth unhindered connection, which indicates an intuitive, and/or spiritual, aspect to communicating. At the same time, Mercury (who represents mental energy) is at odds with (squares) Moon, Jupiter and Uranus. That suggests to me that our verbal communication with each other is likely to be erratic, possibly difficult, possibly inspired.

Over this time, we would do well to note whatever new and uplifting ideas and feelings we have, and not to worry if, at first, they are difficult to explain. Every two years Venus retrogrades for a period of about forty days, which tends to indicate relating being less straightforward that usual. This can be due to inner, previously unconscious or unshared thoughts and feelings, coming to the surface and needing to be worked through. Most misunderstandings and disagreements in relationship situations are generally eased and softened when we remember that love is the most important thing. If we will reach inwardly for the love that links us, and remember to share that loving with each other, this Venus transit can teach us how wonderful relating can be.

Let us tune in for the highest spiritual inspirations we can get, and not expect others to understand this until the energy quiets down again. And we ourselves, of course, need to give others time to express what they have discovered, without judging what we don't understand!

Love, Margaret
