Pisces as a gateway

Pisces is like the Zodiac’s open door to the universe, allowing free flow from either side to the other. Mostly we experience this as an emotional flow – empathy for another’s feelings, a sense of overwhelm in the face of suffering, a sudden psychic or emotional pressure to say or do something that didn’t developed from our own experience. Because ‘no boundaries’ means there are no definitions for the mind to hold on to, one can feel lost. We can think of the boundless as spirit itself or the unified field, where all is one. On this level, our experience of flow through our open Pisces door is a sense of momentary wonder, expanded compassion, our heart lovingly open to all. In fact – no door at all, more like a gateway to reality.

New Moon in Pisces, with Uranus

Any New Moon moment focuses our receptive attention on a single point of the sky - that canopy of starry wisdom that surrounds our little earth. This New Moon in Pisces is at the on point as the planet Uranus, and so our focus is the principle of freedom within the boundless. One freedom worth going for is freedom from boundaries of race, class, religion, so that we can recognise, and empathise with, people simply through their human experience. Another is inner freedom from old reactions; this may feel like acceptance of outer conditions, or it may bring about a realisation that we need to break free from something external that had us in thrall, trapped, and inner freedom also releases our natural courage to follow through. So look out for sudden changes and reversals of behaviour, in yourself as well as others! You, and they, may just be testing the waters for a while before changing back, or inspiration could be taking you to another place altogether.

Jupiter (expansion) is supporting the Sun/Moon/Uranus from Capricorn (the practical world). This connection would be experienced as everyday circumstances and situations giving us ideas we get excited about, and can put into practice. It’s often our reactions that threaten to stop us, not the world ‘out there.’ When we are free from old reaction patterns, we can often take an inspiration and run with it, seeing how it might be manifested. It’s truly up to each one of us to recognise the part we play in our own difficulties, and success.

At the highest level this month, the horizon of expansion is spacious. Every now and then, from the universe both inner and outer, each of us will be receiving new inspiration for the future. When you do, give it some attention, because it will come with an instruction manual on how to express it in practical liveable terms.

Giving emotional support

On another level, emotions will tend to be high especially among family and friends (Mars has entered Cancer again, reaching Leo on 10 May). Those who need caring for, due to local and/or personal disasters of some kind, will be open to attracting help. The best use of this energy, when you feel the desire to help, is to support the growth of those who can truly benefit from being empowered. This New Moon chart shows that the people who need emotional support are those who are having to deal with transformations that have happened in their lives, or those who are deliberately working to transform their way of life for the better.

To discriminate between those who will benefit from our help, and those who are like a bottomless well of want, we need to stay tuned to the highest good of the person. We are all open to being manipulated by our own sense of guilt, or the error of thinking we should be responsible for others. To be clear enough to choose the most appropriate actions, we need to maintain an Aquarian detachment in the face of emotional pressure, because whatever we do to help will be effective (Saturn in Virgo trine Pluto).

The Angel of Aquarius
                 – unconditional love

At this Pisces New Moon, Mercury stands in Aquarius between Chiron and Neptune/Venus. This suggests that, through clear thinking and communication, we are in a position to interpret the unconditional love of Aquarius into healing human suffering in unexpected ways. On one level this shows the birthing of humanity into its naturally compassionate state. Love and compassion are natural to the person who knows, and feels, that we are all truly spirit having a human experience, because there are no boundaries separating spirit from itself. This is the Piscean gateway that enables Aquarius to be humanitarian in a kindly way, because what I do to you, I also experience through empathy and the power of attraction.

. . . and the next Full Moon
                            on 21 March?

Unusually, as the Sun moves into Aries at the Equinox, the Moon will be full in Libra, balancing the bursting forth of new directives. And the Sun and Moon complete a square around the Earth with Mars and Pluto at the other two corners, each in a different element: Earth, Air, Fire and Water, a crucible of creative possibilities. The Aries directives are likely to be powerful, laden with transformational zeal and/or fear of loss. They are held in check by consideration or uncertainty from Libra, and empathy or confusion from Pisces (Mercury/Venus). So choose your perspective in the next couple of weeks: will you put your energy into anxiety or awareness, into blame and resentment or interest and kindness? Delightfully (with Neptune/Chiron on North Node in Aquarius), the ‘angels’ will be there to help us if we remember to ask.

Contemplation for this New Moon in Pisces
Subtle sounds of life within you
interface with
subtle sounds of life around you.
Be in the interface: how thin is it? how sensitive?
how awake?

Be the moment of awareness
containing inner and outer in one
like the circle of yin and yang in breathing
between black and white
beating the heart.
Here there is no thought, no emotional response –
stillness, silence in that surface
interfacing self with Self
self with being
not self.

And in the stillness
love blossoms in the heart and fizzes through the cells
creating maybe tears from eyes, and hairs standing on end -
and resting then
like a gentle hand over water.

Let us be at your shoulder, loving you.
Let us look at life through your eyes
delighted at what you are creating -
for the blessing flows through all and everything
and if you choose to feel it
you too can bless.
