This is the month of reckoning . . .
OK, here we go! This is the month when Saturn begins its
opposition to Uranus (early November – written last
month), and in late November, Jupiter and Saturn complete
the effective dance they’ve been doing over the last
year or so (also written last month). On 27 November, the
same day that Uranus turns to go forward again, Pluto finally
goes into Capricorn to stay until 2023 (see below).
Depending on your level of daily focus, you may experience
this as hardship or adventure. If you think of the physical
world being all there is, then you are likely to see your
fears manifest. If you understand that all is naturally unfolding
as it needs to, in order to bring the world into better harmony,
then you will notice what happens and adjust to it as you
go along - you will manage, and even enjoy the changes. But
let’s start by looking at this New Moon . . .
New Moon in Scorpio
In this New Moon chart, the Sun and Moon are not connected
to the rest of the planetary arrangements, nor is Scorpio’s
ruling planet, Pluto, connected. It’s as though we are
dealing with deep personal realisations that transform how
we experience ourselves and the world, while the situations
and events that happen around us are about something else
entirely – two disconnected layers of experience.
Scorpio represents the deepest emotional experiences we
have, where life touches us so deeply that we become involved.
There is no escape from an impact once it’s been received
at this level. Adjustments have to be made, and these changes
are permanent. No wonder Scorpio is often seen defending itself.
This is where we tend to stick to old judgements as a way
of not changing. But a defended Scorpio is stuck, growth suspended
or, at best, very slow.
Because Scorpio is sensitive at such a deep level, not much
goes unnoticed, so whatever is shared, however unsavoury,
needs to be taken as information. As strong as the current
flows at the bottom of a deep river, so is the determination
in Scorpio once a decision has been taken. This movement in
action is difficult to stop, so there is a need to consciously
check on a regular basis to make sure that the direction is
still desirable.
This is a good month to check all automatic opinions, reactions
and behaviour, to examine the truth about our motives (Mars
in Scorpio trine Uranus). We may not like what we find
(Mercury in Libra), but at least it has got us to
where we are. We find it is easier to do things differently
when we own up to the truth about ourselves (Mercury trine
Neptune), rather than criticising ourselves for it (Saturn
in Virgo). Inner work this month promises to be effective,
and the ‘you’ that then engages in the world outside
will be more personally confident and relaxed from any inner
work you do.
At the very deepest level of all, Scorpio represents the
space that we are that holds all phenomena with love. Generally
we are not conscious of this because we are relating to what’s
going on, but there are moments when we sense it – the
bird singing after a rain storm, a little child’s hand
in one’s own, the fragrance of a rose – moments
of stillness when we know that, at an essential level, there
is something utterly unchanging and completely accepting.
Resting in the knowledge that this is the truth of existence,
we can go forward, dealing with whatever changes in life-style
become necessary, without fighting the way things are.

Getting the foundations organised - Jupiter in harmony
with Saturn
We’ve had our opportunities to clear the decks and
ready ourselves for change. It all began in March/April/May
07, when new ideas as to what we would like began to surface,
and seem possible of achievement. November/December 07 started
the movement towards necessary transformation (Jupiter
over Pluto). Then, in late January 08 (when Pluto began
revealing the real state of the financial world), we got to
see where we would need to re-organise ourselves, if those
early dreams were to manifest. Having seen where the problems
lie, we had another opportunity to sort out our circumstances
early September this year.
The last wave to surf home on is flowing now, and completes
on 21 November. Then at last we reap the results of our efforts,
financially, health-wise, house-wise, or wherever you have
needed to focus. In your birth chart, the Houses that contain
Capricorn will indicate the area of life where you will be
facing the biggest changes. By the end of November, our time
of choice will be done, and, whatever state we are in, we
will face whatever local weather the changing world delivers.
Getting on with each other – diplomacy of Mercury
in Libra
Mercury, retrograding through Libra, was exactly trine Neptune
in the last New Moon chart, Interestingly, it is the same
position moving forwards in this New Moon chart, trining Neptune
once again and therefore continuing the fine intuitive focus
in our conversations. This month, though, we will be focusing
on what’s next rather than adjusting the past, perhaps
beginning to use the solutions that were discussed last month,
personally as well as globally.
Let the changes begin - Pluto into Capricorn
Last month, I wrote about Saturn beginning to oppose Uranus.
But it is extraordinary to notice that Uranus stops its retrograde
movement the day Pluto enters Capricorn. Uranus is the energy
of sudden changes that surprise us, and his forward movement
is more free and up-to-date than when retrograde. So it looks
as though the material changes that were beginning to affect
us all last January get properly underway very fast. It’s
as though, now we know the truth about the unhealthy state
of the world finances, the need to do things completely differently
will be obvious.
Let’s go for transformation: regard your present situation
as your personal chrysalis. Let the melt-down of your needs
and desires begin, just knowing one thing – you will
be a butterfly by the time it’s all done, quite different
from the leaf-eating caterpillar! We cannot predict what the
new circumstances, or the new you, will be like, but if we
do our 10% of adjusting willingly, the other 90% will happen
in ways we can assimilate.
