From Aries into Taurus

Taurus is the bull in a field, contented, browsing on what Nature supplies. The concept of Taurus opens the door to the qualities of our planet Earth – the ground beneath our feet, the provider of food, the atmosphere that sustains all that we know as daily life. Our bodies are made from it, our health depends on it. And yet we can spoil that relationship through inappropriate actions stemming from faulty thinking. The Earth is fine and healthy itself, slowly living to its own rhythm. Sometimes tensions build up, and there is sudden movement as it gets comfortable again - volcanoes, earthquakes, shifting tectonic plates. All is well. The problem is our relationship with the Earth’s life. Let us slow down, be sensitive to what is actually happening around us, adapt, adjust, be patient, live healthily, kindly.

It is a wonderfully creative time. The last new moon was in Aries and may have set us off acting spontaneously in ways we hardly knew we could do. If this applies to you, you may find that you are running full tilt into a future that isn’t manifesting as fast as you are moving – resulting in tripping over your projections. (This New Moon in Taurus is halfway between two Full Moons in Scorpio – 20 April Sun/Moon in the first degree of Taurus/Scorpio, and 20 May in the last degree of Taurus/Scorpio.) Perhaps this is the feeling of the brakes going on rather hard – if you’ve really gone too fast with something, accept the present situation and how it feels to you. But don’t waste time and energy complaining, just see if it’s possible to pull back a bit, before having another go.

The Earth

This new moon in Taurus is about how to earth those ventures we have begun, possibly harder to do than we thought at first. This doesn’t have to be a bad thing. It just requires that we all slow down a bit and reconsider what was our first motivation. From 9 May, Jupiter (expansion/growth) will begin to move backwards against the backdrop of the sky, showing up in our life as projects slowing down their development. As the retrograde motion gets underway, and for the following four months, there is ample time to reconsider our purposes for, and eventual desired effects of, all these ventures.

This is not to say that nothing will be happening: Pluto and Saturn continue to trine each other across the sky, bringing change about by integrating the need for change with the situations that offer possibilities. The effect of these great forces in our individual lives can feel like being forced to do something that you really want to do, but have been putting off.

This time is about re-aligning the path of humanity with the path of the Earth, so any activities that increase your personal relationship with the earth that you touch (trees, soil, seedlings and produce), anything that brings awareness of the connection of all things, these activities will go well this year.

‘Trust in God
- but tie up your camel.’

Coming from the Aries month, we are likely to expect to continue charging along at speed, and so will find the slowing down difficult to understand (Mercury square Saturn in the chart). Once again, it is the expectations that are the problem. And once we connect with the present moment and what it contains (including ourselves) the slowing will be felt as transformational in itself, without the need to do anything spectacular to make it so.

Forgive the repeated saying about the camel, but it’s so true just now. The waking of humanity from its illusions is taken care of spiritually (Neptune and Chiron on North Node in Aquarius) and we need to trust the necessary process that achieves this awakening. The bit we need to consciously focus on is the earthy bit of getting up to date with the real state of our bodies, our health, our diet, our physical homes, our debts vs income, personally as well as globally – ‘tying up our camels’!

Expect the unexpected

Uranus and Jupiter continue in supportive relationship with each other, ie. growth happening in sudden bursts, with gaps in between. We will notice this as an increase in events following our thoughts. No sooner do you think of someone than you bump into them or they phone; I voiced the fact that I needed to replace my car at some point soon, and half an hour later unintentionally drove the bumper gently under the bumper of the people-carrier in front – my car an insurance write-off ensuring instant replacement! Accepting the changes that come about in this way, allows the growth to be straight-forward, and keeps the suffering to a minimum.

As the point of NOW moves through experience, keep your focus moving with it. We never really know what’s coming next, and most prognoses are wrong to some degree. Just deal with what IS at any point. What needs to be planned – get the planning done without stretching your emotional centre into that future, do it as a mental exercise. Then come back to exactly where you are now - where your spirit waits for you. Before thought, there is experience.

Remember:

Taurus is the natural physical healer of the Zodiac - to ‘be with’ Nature is healing for us all.

Contemplation for this New Moon in Taurus
Breathe.
Notice how much your body moves as the air comes in,
and relax it all as the air goes out.
Feel your whole body down to your feet on the ground,
experiencing how the ground holds your weight perfectly.
Be with’ yourself connecting with the ground.
Open your eyes afresh and look at what is in front of you.
Whatever it looks like, it is life’s energy held into the form you see.
It takes up space with its colour and shape,
it ‘is’
as you ‘are’
both resting peacefully in the moment of ‘being.’
Breathe and be.
