Venus in the Sun’s rays
On 15 May, Venus appeared to begin moving backwards through
the Zodiac in its path around the Sun (it retrogrades for
half a sign, for about 45 days every two years). Usually,
Venus passes the Sun a little north or south of the Sun’s
position, but this year on 5/6 June it will be observably
between us and the Sun, as a tiny black dot in the bright
face, for several hours - this is the second recent exact
crossing, the first being in June 2004 - they always happen
in pairs eight years apart, and there won’t be another
pair for over 100 years.

We are always totally bathed in the Sun’s electro-magnetic
radiation, bathed in the condition of our Sun. Venus between
us and that powerful source suggests that the light of the
Sun will be shining right through our illusions about how
much we are really relating when we communicate. Perhaps also,
what the earth receives from the Sun’s rays will be
flavoured with the quality of love and connectedness. It happens
on 5/6 June, in the sign of Gemini, and will be exact just
when the Moon lines up with Pluto connecting helpfully with
Chiron - could this be one of those moments when those of
us who are open on that level have the opportunity to allow
personal transformation, and the flowering of Love as the
ground of our every day? Let’s go for that . . .
Communication and work - disagreement or assistance
In the New Moon chart this month, the feminine in us (Venus
- that which draws us to share life with others) is filled
with a need to understand the others, and to bring learned
wisdom into our relationships (Venus in Gemini trine Saturn
in Libra, both retrograde). People we have been close to in
the past could be turning up again; how we relate to them
may need to be re-thought, so we could be getting up-to-date
with old partners, or discovering how we have changed since
that old relationship was active in our life. We may also
feel that the relationships we have are restrictive, and we
want to connect with more people than the usual crowd.
The masculine side of us (Mars - the drive that motivates
us to do things) is powerful and earthy in this chart. Determined
to make beneficial changes in how things are done, and yet
so affected by the prevalent mood swings, there could be uncertainty
around choosing exactly what to DO (Mars in Virgo trine Pluto,
opposite Chiron in Pisces) - important not to get into blaming
other people for hold-ups, or feeling guilty because we are
not as quick as we would like. Making the RIGHT moves could
feel so important that we hold back from a fear of making
errors - until we try to force people to do what feels right
to us, or just flip (Pluto squared by Uranus) and do something
spontaneously! Or we may choose to ignore the rest of the
world entirely and just get on with our own stuff - but we
are likely to find ourselves drawn into broader events anyway.

Listening helps
Mercury catches up with Jupiter in Taurus in the first couple
of days this month, indicating down-to-earth communication
and pragmatic solutions in service to what the community has
decided would be best (quincunx Saturn), but there may be
difficulties in coming to a conclusion from trying to take
in everyone’s preferences. Patience is the quality needed,
taking things slowly, step by step, allowing a sensitive relationship
between what we do and the earthy energy we do it with. Patience
will also allow us to listen carefully to what people are
saying, and to find the right words to bridge any gap or conflict
between our social and working lives.
From 8 June, we are likely to feel more emotionally involved,
and empathic understanding is very likely for the next few
days (Mercury into Cancer, sextile Neptune/Chiron). Approaching
13 June, we may more clearly accept responsibility for our
part in relating (the Sun perfects a trine to Saturn).
This first New Moon in Gemini (the second being on
19 June)
This month is truly about taking responsibility for our
side of any communication happening (Sun/Moon are at the beginning
of Gemini on the South Node). It’s about not reacting
emotionally, just being aware and in touch; and the result
is much greater understanding of the whole situation you’re
in, and enjoying the exploration on the way (North Node in
Sagittarius).
Across a part of America an eclipse of the Sun can be observed,
on this occasion leaving a ring of Sun showing around the
edge of the Moon’s disc, so not a complete black-out.
An eclipse certainly draws our attention to bigger ideas than
every day, and perhaps points to the extreme importance of
the words we choose to speak, and the ideas we entertain.
With Mars trine Pluto any thought that comes with emotion
attached will be very powerful, manifesting itself in your
experience much faster than usual. So let us take care of
how we communicate with each other, and what we wish for ourselves!
A difficulty that might arise could be losing the sense of
our own understanding in the face of other’s reactions
or the world-mood (Sun/Moon squaring Neptune in Pisces). Honesty
is required, but also time alone to separate out our take
on things rather than just falling in with the general consensus.
Since Neptune went into its own sign, we are all much more
open to influences, psychic, emotional and spiritual. For
the next many years, we will be more easily manipulated by
outside pressure, and also find the spiritual dimension of
ourselves more accessible. The confusing side of all this
can be minimised by listening inwardly and being as true as
we can be to ourselves.
