Taurus - accepting this physical life we have
The run-up to this New Moon has been about mental and emotional
states being manifested in material situations: if you are
angry about a situation, you probably won’t have a peaceful
time dealing with it. Although astrology cannot solve our
problems, it can give us a better understanding of what’s
going on, and this can help us accept situations as they develop.
We need to deal with our material situations on the material
level: if you want a tidy office, you need to deal with the
papers or throw them away - and the same goes for clothes,
I’ve noticed!
What we often forget is that materiality is governed by
energy, and is therefore managed on the energetic level. We
solve our problems better by creating a relevant attitude,
than by relying on thinking up a solution: that is to say,
peaceful dealings are more likely to follow a peaceful approach.
This is especially true now, during this time of uncertainty
about the future, and particularly this month with four of
the five ‘personal planets’ in Taurus in the New
Moon chart.
People often say, ‘how can I accept something that
feels wrong, unfair, not what I want?’ I think we tend
to confuse ‘accept’ with ‘approve’.
Accepting what is there, what is happening, doesn’t
mean we like it, it means that we receive it into our consciousness
as it is. Only then can we do something about it. Taurus is
about the earth, the food we eat, our bodies and their state
of health - as long as we wish to be different, we tend to
maintain the energy that keeps us as we are. Once we realise
and accept what we have, the ways to develop and change become
clear. So start with accepting/receiving the facts in your
life, and see what rises to be done.
Have the experience - and learn from the results
At this New Moon, the Sun/Moon are on the South Node in
Taurus pointing out that we are largely a product of our past,
and we may well find ourselves clinging onto our habits as
though that’s who we are. The North Node in Scorpio
is calling us to go deeper into our inner experience of ourselves
to find a larger more inclusive reality connecting us with
the roots of all humanity, not just our inherited family.
From the last Full Moon on the Scorpio/Taurus axis, the
procession of planets through Taurus opposed Saturn in Scorpio,
which may have felt like pressure to commit to, and get on
with, something or someone, and we would have found lots of
reasons why we couldn’t (Taurus). On the other
hand, as long as we did what needed to be done without insisting
on complete control, many things could have become clear,
many difficulties presenting workable solutions.
Since the beginning of May, those same planets have been
connecting with Pluto and Chiron - and we are beginning to
realise the changes may have to happen inside us before they
happen in our world. We are being prepared to completely change
in order to keep abreast of what is most important to us.
We are having to reach beyond our habitual patterns of behaviour,
so that we can connect with what is really going on and the
people that are really there. When we allow habitual patterns
of relating, we keep imagining people to be like those we
once knew.

Start by assuming that things are not as bad as you think,
then discover what is true, and find your security in that.
Old emotional wounds may have been exposed, to be cleaned
out by being shared. Own up to how you are feeling, and allow
healing through gentle light communication and kindly touch.
And this New Moon chart suggests that, from 10 May, that’s
the kind of communication that will be encouraged (Venus
joins Jupiter in Gemini).
Stirring good energy
Each person needs to discover the attitude that works for
them. In terms of ordering your space, it could be: looking
lovingly at your things, and placing them carefully where
you would like them to go; or deciding that you deserve really
nice surroundings to live in, and clearing the space to honour
yourself; or preparing to invite people in, and ‘doing
yourself proud’ so they experience you at your best.
It is difficult to deal with any situation when you hate it
as it is. When you tell yourself you would rather be doing
something else, it’s difficult to raise the energy to
do the best with what you have.
Ceremonies are arrangements of movement, like a dance, to
demonstrate a perfection of meaning on the physical plane,
. Many of the things we do are like little ceremonies: the
way a table is laid for guests at dinner, preparing to do
whatever it is you enjoy, making a cup of tea before phoning
a friend. There’s something pleasing in careful preparation
that carries over into the event, beginning an energetic movement
that unfolds on its own. The care and caring give an underlying
sense of security - respect and love are catching.
. . . last thought
Whatever else - going it alone this month will not feel
good (Uranus square Pluto). Have your own opinions
(as long as they keep moving along) and decide what you would
prefer to do - but, at this time, it’s being in community
with friends, family and neighbours that will be most rewarding.
Cutting off from what you don’t want will feel very
lonely and, in the end, you won’t even get what you
want. Freedom and independence are being exposed for the un-grounded
ideals they may be; because in fact we are all inter-connected,
inter-dependent, and this is not a weakness. All physical
manifestations of life share this plane of existence: to separate
out from that is to imagine your body is unaffected by your
thoughts and emotions, when clearly it is. Let’s just
accept our humanity, this physical expression we’ve
chosen, and draw sustenance through our rootedness in the
Love that is everything.
