Last month’s changes
Last month certainly brought many unexpected changes (Jupiter-expansive
square Uranus-sudden and surprising). Many people’s
balance was severely challenged. I personally experienced
the pain of a slipped disc, which had me flat on my back for
three weeks – postponing my return to England, I had
to cancel many plans. On the up-side, I surrendered to the
spirit of the moment, experiencing love in action expressed
by all those who took care of me, and I learned to really
appreciate people without wanting to change anything about
them. I wonder how many of you also had huge unexpected events
that revealed another way of living. Will we take what we
learned into the future?
New Moon in Aquarius – towards peaceful relating
This New Moon chart is about the transformation that comes
about when truth is realised and accepted (Sun/Moon sextile
Pluto in Sagittarius). We are being offered an opportunity
to allow last month’s learning to transform our outlook.
Aquarian relating includes accepting that people are the way
they are, and it’s not for us to try to change them.
Maybe what we can aim to do is support our family and friends
to do what they really want to do, rather than simply expressing
desire and consequent frustration. We help them best by realising
who we are ourselves, and not using outside pressure as an
excuse for not fulfilling ourselves.
I found a good thing to say to myself when being with another:
‘This person may never change – I wonder who they
really are?’ It helped me not interfere, or think I
knew better, not judge or try to ‘correct.’ Accepting
each person as they are creates much more peaceful relating,
more fun, more quiet intimacy.
Emotional checks and balances
The more we try to be free to do our own thing, the more
we are likely to feel the pressure of emotions, both individual
and en masse, pulling us back and creating inertia, it’s
like pushing against water (Venus in Pisces square Pluto).
We need to be aware of the ebb and flow of emotional reactions,
our own and others’. In society as a whole, these emotions
can act as checks and balances for any extreme new projects,
so that the changes implemented are appropriate, not just
political or religious principles being forced into people’s
lives.
On the other hand we need to remember that feelings change,
emotions are temporary reactive expressions. So we need to
allow the feelings to be simply what they are, letting them
flow through, and trust that our spirit knows the ocean’s
current beneath the waves, and will bring about the appropriate
development, regardless of our fears and anxieties.

Inspiration rather than working things
out
The opening of consciousness to global humanitarian (Aquarian)
ideals is still being held in check by individuals who are
in thrall to the power of authority (Neptune in Aquarius
opposite Saturn in Leo). But this New Moon chart offers
the opportunity to develop and achieve beyond what has been
thought possible (Jupiter in Sagittarius approaching the
trine to Saturn and sextile to Neptune), reconciling
this tug-of-war. And the flavour is always that the results
can be different from what you fear. This is a good time to
say to ourselves: ‘Let me see things differently,’
quoting from A Course in Miracles.
This month is not about mentally understanding what’s
going on (Mercury in the chart is retrograde, in Pisces,
and unaspected). Mentally we are likely to feel fairly
unsure, swimming along through the moments – a perfect
month for practising ‘beginner’s mind’,
or ‘living in the Now’, and allowing the solutions
to be inspired for the greater good.
Practise, practise, practise
This is the time for experimentation rather than pinning
anything down, and it’s important that we don’t
‘throw the baby out with the bath water’, jettisoning
a good idea because the first results of our efforts do not
please us. We are continuing to play with the need for space
to be individual, even if that looks eccentric or strange
(Uranus is approaching the North Node).
It’s also worth noticing that physical partings do
not mean separation – what is joined in spirit is always
joined. It is safe to practise letting loved ones do their
own thing – who we truly love, we cannot lose. Uranus
is electrical energy and the reality of our connectedness
is being demonstrated through e-mail, texting, camera-phones,
satellites. All this is the physical reflection of our expanding
consciousness. Practising the inner skills of empathy, telepathy,
remote viewing, intuition, will have more success now than
ever before.
More importantly, it is now a small step between our everyday
world and the awareness of spiritual oneness as the underpinning
truth. Practise opening your awareness, softening your focus,
lifting your heart as you breath in – and allowing life
to be what it is.
Open to love
In May, and again in October, there are likely to be more
surprises, shaking off the way things have been so that we
can breathe new air (Jupiter will square Uranus twice
more). It’s all good stuff really, even when it
feels not – situations and lives opening like flower
buds. We’re just not sure yet what the flowers will
look like. Let your life unfold like a flower – it’s
perfume is the love in your heart.
