I haven’t been talking about Full Moons in these e-mails, but the next one looks rather striking, so I thought a comment might be valuable. One noteworthy transit is Jupiter moving fast through the last part of Libra during September/October. At the Full Moon, Jupiter will be exactly opposite the new planet, 2003 UB313, in Aries (notes on this planet are included below). There is a struggle between Aries’ driving energy, and Libra’s cautious moves towards balance and harmony. So during the following two weeks, there is likely to be frustration and impatience, even though the desired result is harmony and justice (Jupiter in Libra emphasises the forceful Aries qualities that it is opposing).

Since the beginning of 2004, hidden aspects of potentially turbulent situations will have been coming to the surface (Pluto in Sagittarius has been trining UB313 in Aries). Pluto is known for revealing things that bring about transformation, and the revealing stage is almost complete (the trine finishes this month). One thing that has been revealed is UB313 itself, and astrologers’ acceptance of it will be completed when the astronomers decide officially what name to call the planet. Over the last 21 months, you personally may have found hidden layers being revealed in a difficult area of your life, and this coming month could bring a sense of things falling into place, of understanding what the last year or so has been about! Any transformative growth will be manifested in the next couple of weeks in very practical, down-to-earth ways (Jupiter sextiles Pluto in the Full Moon chart, and they are both exactly quincunx Mars in Taurus). As long as the motivation is for general, rather than personal, benefit, the changes will serve also those who make them.

A problem that rises, when the Full Moon is in Pisces, is a tendency to be unfocused, and express very strong emotional reactions. This year, there is likely to be much moralising about fine ideals when faced with situations like the New Orleans flooding (Sun/Mercury in Virgo opposite Moon creates a T-square with Pluto). Criticism of circumstances and actions so far could waste the healing energy, and change nothing. If the focus is not on general benefit, changes tend to take place through struggling with blockages, instead of improvements being made smoothly, and more suffering is felt than is necessary.

All this tells us that, as long as we make the most of present energy to change the way things are done so that all benefit, any damage can be remedied and healed, and systems can be set in place so that such damage is less likely in future. I’m not talking about only New Orleans, but other troubled situations in the world, and also possibly in personal life, where what we knew is swamped to the point that it can never be the same again. However you respond to changing circumstances in your own life will give power to the way humanity responds in larger situations. We need to accept circumstances as they present themselves, before we can do anything to alleviate, or remedy, them. One quick howl, perhaps! But then immediate acceptance and constructive effort are essential. If we can do this now, the transformative effects in the next few weeks will be enormous and wonderful.

One more thing about this Full Moon chart: we may find ourselves personally dealing with deep issues of loneliness and not being recognised (Venus in Scorpio square Saturn). This goes for society and groups of people, as well as individuals. We often place ourselves in a lonely position, as a protection from over-dependency on others that would prevent our own autonomy. So the sure way through any lonely inner swamp is to recognise the real presence and gifts of others, without giving up our autonomy (Venus trines Uranus, who quincunxes Saturn). Even in larger social conditions, however deep the empathy for those who are suffering, we need to stand back a bit, in order to see what will help. Saturn being in Leo suggests it is likely to be egos that get in the way of empathic understanding, but it will take those with big hearts to make the necessary difference. For us all, others experiencing great loss can bring us to the appreciation of what we have.
