Gemini - don’t forget to breathe

Gemini is movement from here to there and back, and maybe somewhere else, or many other places. Physical movement, or mental movement, from one person to another, from thoughts to emotions - at least two of everything to allow movement between. Conversations, people, places - input, input! Any other sign begins to feel breathless in the face of the ceaseless changes of direction. Of course, we all do have more than one Zodiac sign planetarily represented in our birth charts, so even Gemini Sun-sign people can feel personality overwhelm from time to time. And many other Sun-sign people have a planet or two in Gemini themselves. So . . . (draw breath here) . . . let’s allow for variety in our lives, and the Gemini part will have space to be expressed.

Listen to your solar plexus!

Since mid-May, you may have felt your energy pulled in many different directions with different emotions attached (Mars into Gemini until 25 June). This month, we seem to be focussing on all of them at once (the Sun/Moon are conjunct Mars in the New Moon chart). Mars in the body represents the solar plexus, so with Mars on the New Moon itself, we are liable to be feeling clenched diaphragm, or butterflies in the stomach, which could be excitement or anxiety depending what your mind does with it.

In Gemini, Mars is focusing us on what we do mentally with whatever we pick up emotionally: interpreting it in accordance with our own experience and beliefs; and also revealing how we create the way we feel through what we spend time thinking about. What we need to do is regard what we feel as alerting us to something that may be going on. We then need to check our thoughts against reality before we jump to conclusions, or we may find ourselves stirring up a hornets’ nest (Mercury opposite Saturn who is back in Scorpio till mid-September).

Overwhelm can reveal the inner child in pain

According to your particular metabolism and style, you may or may not feel excited by all this. It could simply be a pain, and a confusion, especially as some of those directions and feelings will have brought long hidden vulnerabilities to the surface (Sun/Moon/Mars square Chiron).

The beauty is that we can discover so much more of our truth at this time by being aware of our thoughts and feelings (Mercury also in Gemini, now direct again). When sharing them with another, the important thing to remember is that what we think and feel is personally our own and not necessarily true for the other person (Mercury square to Neptune). Our feelings are part of our truth, but not necessarily appropriate to the present situation. Therefore, be careful to check how the other thinks and feels, too, and accept that what they share is true for them, even if not true for you: a perfect time for getting up-to-date as long as we allow each other to be individually different.

As we each discover, experience and share our own unique depth, a natural joy of heart will be bubbling up; and, in the midst of the whirl of experience, it will be useful to take time out to just express yourself and have fun (Uranus in Aries trine Jupiter in Leo).

Be the welcoming ‘guest-house’ for your emotions (Rumi)

Chuck Spezzano, Rumi, and most wise teachers, impress on us the virtue of simply staying consciously with the truth of our present emotions until they evaporate, change or disperse. This is easy to say - but takes awareness, courage and perseverance to do. Our minds seek to control emotions, our bodies to express or defend them in retaliation. But this month, we can practise relaxing with them, owning them while they are there, and letting them pass through and away, leaving us naturally open to the gentle joy of life (Chiron quincunx Jupiter in Leo). True healing!

Full Moon offers conscious growth, blessed by angels

For the first two weeks after the New Moon, we may not be sure, and will need to trust, that the spirit over-lighting our relationships is revealing the depths for the purpose of letting Love flow through (Venus quincunx Neptune in Leo). But from the Full Moon (2 July), the picture arrives in our full consciousness, and we are encouraged to join in the loving work (Venus/Jupiter quincunx Chiron, and sextile Mercury). It will be easier in this second half of the month to see what’s going on in us, and share in a more dis-passionate way. Although emotions may be running high (Mars following Sun closely through Cancer) there is a pull to the spiritual ways, and a readiness in us all to change that which doesn’t work (Sun/Mars trine Neptune, opposite Moon/Pluto sextile Neptune).

Let us speak of friendship

In the global picture, deep painful issues could be resolved by brave people in authority. Let us support the changes tending towards inclusion and love, rather than finding fault with what may not be ‘perfect’ about them. So much wonderful development happens when encouraged and supported - let us speak of positive growing, and relating to each other, and love between us.

Contemplation for this New Moon in Gemini

Each is unique, each loved
not one preferred, or judged.
Relax and know the soul surrounding you
is pulled to Love and Light by its core -
you cannot lose your way
unless you blind yourself to your truth.
When feeling lost, be still.
Let the ever-loving arms of life
receive you now,
and love yourself as spirit loves
kindly.
