Virgo New Moon speaks . . .
‘First let everything be. Get with the picture - your
surroundings and your personal inner experience. Breathe for
a while, and then begin: let the sorting and rearrangement
of all that you find be encouraged by your growing joy as
the light shines through everything that bit more. Like cleaning
windows of glass, clean your windows of perception both inside
and out. Don’t cry - you’ve done nothing wrong!
It’s just that one tends to forget to look at the less-than-useful
attitudes and stuff on the inside. The inner child has been
allowed to rampage with his/her emotions - judging this, rejecting
that - and will feel so much safer when brought into closer
contact with your guiding soul (Sun/Moon sextiling Jupiter
in Cancer). The emotions, and a sense of chaos, have
been rising perhaps more than usual, coming from ages past
(as Jupiter trines Chiron), so focusing soul-wards will be
very healing.’
Positivity and open-heartedness make lighter work
There could be a tendency this month to talk about the picture
and its details without doing anything constructive (Mercury
in Virgo unaspected). So let there be less words than
usual - Virgo speaks clearly when mentally clear about what
needs to be said. There is an encouragement to take space
this month in service of clarity (Sun/Moon quincunx Uranus).
So it’s important not to react personally to breaks
in communication, but to make use of the given time.
Taking our own space, we will probably feel more optimistic
(Uranus will be trined by Mars in Leo during the first
half of this month). Being in one’s own space doesn’t
necessitate being alone, it’s about making our own choices,
rather than acting in response to outside pressure. Let’s
not waste this spontaneous innovative energy being angry about
whatever is happening in our world (Mars will be squaring
Saturn/North Node in Scorpio). The pressure of seeing
horrific happenings in the ‘news’ can add unhelpful
fear and rage to the seriousness of the situation. Positive
action, warmth and even humour, can make necessary work more
do’able by being enjoyable. Also, a positive attitude
will attract spiritual help (Mars quincunx Neptune).

‘New Moon, to Full Moon on 19 September
As the New Moon itself is in tune with the great background
pattern that’s been reflecting our turbulent times,
this could be the month when we get to see exactly what does
need doing to improve our world. But we do have to begin Virgo-style:
that is, stopping frenetic activity so that any fear or desire
can settle down and stop driving us. Only then can we see
what is truly in our space, so that a sense of ‘correct’
priorities can guide us as we separate what is not useful
from what belongs in our space. This is the focus for the
first half of the month.
As the month proceeds towards the Full Moon and beyond, our
relationships take a more prominent place, actually dealing
with the emotional issues on a very personal level (Full
Moon: Venus with Saturn/North Node in Scorpio, trining Chiron).
Whatever arises, do remember that what you feel is probably
very similar to what’s going on for many other people,
if not all. And the lessons are to help us to master ourselves,
not control.
Mastery, not control
Throughout September there is a focus on mastering our emotional
world (Saturn passes over the North Node in Scorpio).
This is not about controlling ourselves, but rather noticing
how we feel, taking care of the part that feels that way,
and choosing how to respond to what is really ‘out there’
that triggered any emotional reaction. This is not to say
that everything we feel is an emotional reaction from our
past - a great deal of what we experience as ‘feeling’
or ‘emotion’ is that aspect of the human emotional
sea that we’re swimming through at the time. When the
water’s cold, you feel it! Sometimes it’s warm
on the surface with colder under-currents - we can be very
attuned to the emotional field, and riding those waves takes
awareness and the ability to choose our response.
Fundamental support is available
If the stress and pressure threaten to become overwhelming,
return to nature, to the earth and the health of your body
(South Node is in Taurus from September 2012 to February
2014). Decide what to eat for your next meal, and make
sure you’re sleeping enough. (When it gets too much
for me, I take my dog for a walk!) This is where the strength
and comfort come from that allow us to persevere in the work
of transforming our personal and global experience. Engage
the forces of Nature in this work, from fairies to great devic
powers and angels, wherever that feels appropriate - sun,
wind and water, fung shui and flowers . . .
